Master Bath Renovation - Week 2

With Mother's Day, I slacked on writing my week 2 master bathroom update! But things are moving right along.

I mentioned last week about my decision to shiplap or not to shiplap.  And after stewing about it one entire day, we said yes.  So this past week was mostly about getting the shiplap on the walls!

First of all, some of you may be asking "What is shiplap?"  Basically, it's wood planking.

Let me know you a few inspiration pictures before we see my bathroom.

Aren't those bathrooms lovely!?

So you can imagine my excitement when I saw this laying in my driveway last week!

The shiplap arrived!!!

It took most of the week to get it on the walls.  And while these may not be the worlds most exciting images to you, they're pretty fun for me!

I had a few people confused about my bathtub, one of which was my son.  He thought we might climb up a ladder to get into our new bathtub!  A hole will actually be cut for the tub and the tub dropped INTO the hole. So it will be a regular ol' bathtub. Not a fun ladder/slide combo. Though that would be fun! Just probably not safe.

Also, the walls will be painted! My mom already told me that the bathroom looked like a sauna.  That's only temporary! The room will be brighter and whiter when it's finished.

My light fixtures arrived too.  I love them.  Though I'm questioning how they will fit with the rest of the bathroom.  They're an dark/blackish color. Not a rubbed bronze.  Restoration Hardware calls it Aged Steel.

Sherry Hart with Design Indulgence says that every room needs a little bit of black. So I'm hoping that these lights will coordinate ok and not look out of place.   Also, the curtain hardware will be black/aged steel, as will the hooks for our bath towels.  So I think in the end, it'll all work together just fine.

So that's it for week 2!  Yesterday started with a day of cabinet assembly!  Make sure you come back next week for another update.
